On June 13, a bipartisan bill known as the FLIGHT Act (H.R. 2879), or Forward Looking Investment in GA, Hangars, and Tarmacs, was introduced in the House by Reps. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), co-chair of the House General Aviation Caucus, and Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) a member of the House General Aviation Caucus. Both also serve on the House Aviation Subcommittee.

The FAA has issued a Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) to explain the most recent changes to certification standards for the performance of slow flight and stall tasks in airplanes by private and commercial pilot applicants.

Both the June 2017 update of the airman certification standards (ACS) for private pilot-airplane applicants, and the first release of the Commercial Pilot-Airplane ACS, contain new elements based on feedback from the general aviation community.

The FAA sent AOPA an airworthiness concern sheet to notify operators of all Piper PA-28 single-engine airplanes that it has received a report of a fuel selector cover with the left and right fuel tank placards reversed. The agency is requesting that operators examine the placards on their fuel selector covers and report any non-conforming placards.
